world’s notes

A net art project - mirror of world’s society, live and democratically
“World’s Notes” is a project I developed in the experimental design course with Markus Hanzer. It’s a visual application, realized with vvvv. (I’m currently searching for someone who is interested in a flash conversion, just contact me.)

World’s Notes is scanning the zeitgeist with two of the largest internet applications: the newest Wikipedia entry is displayed, and his headline is being send to Google’s Imagessearch to subsequently combine text and image.
One the one hand, this can entertain the user, because the image/text combination may not always be sensible. It’s also possible to watch the Wikipedia getting spammed with neologisms, just feeling the rhythm of new entries, or perhaps seeing the future celebrities for the first time.
But on the other hand, World’s Notes also poses serious questions. How relevant are the topics, the humanity is feeding encyclopaedias with right now? How serious can the attempts be taken, to investigate such mostly unknown terms in a figurative way? What’s engaging the humanity?

World’s Notes is being feeded live by human beings. A mirror of world’s society, live and democratically.

a=v festival performance

av festival

An audivisual performance at the a=v Festival, Munich.
So it’s over now, the first A=V Festival in Munich. I can look back to some interesting and instructive days - even if they were different from my expection.
The workshop was just about the Theremin Sensor, which is a really interesting instrument indeed, but I expected to learn some more, different possibilities to capture and work with human motions. Nevertheless, it was very effective to get coached by Andrey Smirnov in such a small group. There was some kind of main focus (for me) on programming, and finding out how to get the best solutions for dealing with the given values. I’m very happy that I realized a small audiovisual live performance, with Josep from Barcelona, in this short time. It was very nice working and developing ideas together.

The festival itself was very interesting, it was showed a broad range of audiovisual arts, from performances (which were unexpected noisy,) over to installations based on lots of computer knowledge, up to strange looking analogue self-build instruments.
But what I enjoyed most, was the international and familiar atmosphere, and meeting very interesting people.

JazzIt Club Nights

Trailer for a Jazz Club.
Motiongraphics: Philipp Steinweber

Cut: Jakob Barth
Postproduction: Philipp Steinweber
Music: Christoph Pepe Auer Quartet - White Rain

Software: After Effects, Premiere, Illustrator, Photoshop

This is a Trailer for Salzburg’s Jazz Club JazzIt, to promote their monthly Club Nights. The original length is 15 minutes, what you can see here is a short version with fewer photo sequences than in the original. The “Logo’s” design is based on the JazzIt Club Nights CD-Cover by Die fliegenden Fische. We were charged with adopting it for the animation, and decided to add some old film style, and a little less saturated colors as the visual concept which holds together the single parts.

some updates

Due to this site is still under construction (the web2.0 expression is beta), I played around a bit with the background. I’m planning to switch pictures, from a pool of generated graphics randomly. Each will be grayscaled, to keep the same look. The current 2-minute-photoshop-artwork has to be seen as placeholder.
Additionally I implemented some small layout improvements.

kon.txt clubvisuals since 2005.

kon.txt press text:
In 2005 five students of MultiMediaArt at the Fachhochschule Salzburg founded the visual-artist-group kon.txt. They are concentrating on room concepts by playing with the opportunities of projection. In doing so, they are dealing with the digital video-culture and it’s narrative and abstract elements on the one hand, and the generative attributes of digital media on the other. Their professional responsibility is including the production of video clips, animations and short-films, the live-mixing and generating at events and also the whole framing of an event as far as non-temporary work like installations. kon.txt is a constant part of the AV-Act L’egojazz (Munich) and furthermore works together closely with the live performing artist Dorian Concept (Vienna). The straight and continuous teamwork allows a constant development of their concepts.

Some Locations where kon.txt already played:
BCC Berlin, ARGEKultur Salzburg, Feierwerk Munich, Fluc Vienna, Temp~Festival Greifenstein

kon.txt are: Philipp Steinweber, Benjamin Schröder, Martin Pühringer, Jakob Barth and Georg Scherlin.
